College Application Strategy

We can help you develop a personalized application strategy designed to maximize your chances for success, and then we help you execute that strategy and complete your applications with a minimum of stress and drama.

You have to distinguish yourself from the thousands of other applicants.  You also need to use connections and networks thoughtfully.  You want to submit early if that improves your odds.  You want to complete your applications in ways that maximize your chance for admissions.  We'll work with you first to develop a strategy and then to complete your applications.  We'll help you pace yourself so that get it all done without unnecessary stress.  Here's how we'll help you every step of the way:

• You'll get a candid assessment of your competitiveness at each of the colleges on the your list, so you can tweak it to make sure you have plenty of choices at the end of the day.

• We'll work together to develop a specific strategy for presenting you in the manner most compelling to each of the colleges on your list.  Your strategy will determine if you are going to apply to any colleges early.

• You'll get a timeline and action plan customized for you, so you know what you need to do when.

• We'll work together to develop a coherent and compelling set of messages (the story) for your application:  the messages/story theme will highlight your best qualities and distinguish you from other applicants.

• We'll work together on each component of every application including the resume/activity lists, essays, and supplemental submissions to ensure that each application shows you in your best light.  Your Consultant does NOT create or write any of these components, but instead acts as your editor and tutor so that you develop your own skills for presenting yourself.

• We'll assist you in deciding how many recommendations to submit and from whom, as well as how to ask a recommender in a way that helps secure the best recommendation.

• We'll assist you in deciding whether and how to submit supplemental art or performance portfolios, athletic tapes, or other documentation of special talents.

• We'll prepare you for any evaluative interviews.

• We'll keep your parents up-to-date and involved throughout the entire process so that they provide positive and encouraging support all along the way.
