Specific Concerns and Sensitive Questions
We can give you confidential, practical advice about specific concerns or sensitive issues particular to your situation.
Many times students and families need counsel about concerns and issues that they would prefer to discuss confidentially with an objective and independent expert. We are happy to serve as your sounding board and provide advice to you on these matters. Because our Ivey Consultants have decades of admissions experience, there probably isn't a situation you can present that we haven't seen before. To give you a sense of the range of issues we can help you address, we've listed the questions/issues students and families have asked us to work with them to address just over the course of the last year:
- What should I do if I have a terrible 11th grade year?
- Should I disclose that I have a learning disability?
- Should I be tested for learning disabilities?
- Should I disclose that I have a serious mental or physical health problem?
- What should I do if I have a school disciplinary record?
- What should I do if I have a criminal record?
- What should I do if a teacher gives me a copy of the recommendation and it isn't favorable? Should I withdraw my request to submit it?
- What will happen to my offer of admission if I fail to graduate on time? How should I handle that?
- How can we resolve a conflict between what the student wants and what the parents want?
- How do we involve all parents if there has been an acrimonious divorce?
