Hiring - Ivey Consulting is Growing

At this time, we are looking for people to join our team of expert college admissions coaches.

About Us

Staffed by former admissions officers, Ivey Consulting provides one-on-one college and law school admissions coaching in a virtual environment to students and families throughout the U.S. and abroad.

We work with everyone from the homeschooler to the prep schooler, from the regular guy/gal to the true superstar, from the traditional student to the investment banker to the stay-at-home mom, from those who want to attend the moderately selective school to those who want to attend the most selective schools in the U.S. What they all share is the ambition to attend a selective school and the desire to have unbiased, ethical, and expert help from a trusted advisor.

Our philosophy is straightforward: personalized attention and guidance from true experts to help applicants navigate the process with less stress and more success. We even dare to promise that there will be some fun and joy along the way.

About the job

Every coach works one-on-one with assigned students using a structured process that we have designed to help them navigate every phase of the admissions process.

College admissions: About 65% of our students will begin working with us sometime in 11th grade, 35% in 9th or 10th grades, and a few in the earliest months of 12th grade. In addition to your work with students and families, you are expected to attend our regular team meetings where we have the benefit of collaborating with and supporting each other in our work and where we share best practices.

Law school admissions: Most of our clients show up in the summer and fall for the coming admissions cycle and are paired with a consultant at that time for the remainder of the admissions cycle. There are some late(r) birds who show up in the winter and in the new year, but they are not the bulk of our client flow.

Because all of our coaching is provided virtually (by Zoom, etc.), all coaches work from wherever they live. (All team meetings are conducted virtually as well.) Your hours are flexible and will vary through the year, with the most intense activity from August through December. You must be available to work evenings and weekends in order to accommodate students’ and families’ availability and time zones, and reliable high-speed internet is a must.

Your compensation will be competitive and will be determined by your experience and client load.

About You

We admit it: we’re picky. We don’t want just anyone, but we do want you if you are…

  • An expert with first-hand experience in selective admissions. We require that you have been a member of paid admissions staff at a selective U.S. college or law school. (Note that you would not be able to to continue in any current admissions staff role while working with us, as that would raise ethical problems and present a potential conflict of interest. We hire former admissions staff only.)

  • A confidence-inspiring and caring coach who can develop rapport and trust with diverse students and families and who exhibits sincere and enthusiastic care for them.

  • A friendly team player who will be a positive addition to our team.

  • An ethical professional who will exhibit the highest degree of professionalism, including the ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold the ethical standards and integrity of the application process.

You should have at least a bachelor’s degree for college coaching, and also a law degree for law school coaching; you should write exceptionally well; you should want to work independently (no boss on-site); and you should be willing, even excited, to use and master a variety of technology tools that make a virtual coaching practice possible.
