Welcome Indrani Stangl from Stanford Law School!

Welcome Indrani Stangl, former Associate Director of Admissions at Stanford Law School and the newest member of our team!

Indrani has years of experience at Stanford University in roles including Associate Director of Admissions at Stanford Law School, and Student Services Manager at the Mechanical Engineering Department. She has also had a successful record as a career coach, helping people land their dream jobs in her native Silicon Valley. On our team, she works with both international and domestic students to gain admission to their chosen programs. She specializes in law, engineering, STEM, and business related fields such as data science.

We asked Indrani what some of her funniest experiences were as a Stanford Law School admissions officer:

People tend to think they want to 'stand out' when they apply for law school, but some don't get the message that the best way to stand out is to tell a compelling story.

  • Someone dropped by the office in a wizard costume, stating he was going to cast a spell on me.

  • Someone included a pair of pants that they designed (I had no idea how these pants were relevant to the admissions process, and he didn't give any hints). The pants were replete with dog hair and wrinkles.

  • Someone included a board game (hand-made) that was in the realm of 'The Game of Life', hoping that the admissions committee would play and the student would 'win' admission.

  • I got an application and it seemed as if the applicant had forgotten to include a personal statement. I made a courtesy call and asked if he could resend. He said that the personal statement WAS included. I looked through the file and there was, in fact, a personal statement: "I have always dreamed of going to Stanford Law School." - the end. Seriously.
